I may not be able to remember what I'm doing now, or er, in fact ever...but I can be reassured I won't get Alzheimer's.
Which is frankly better than the previous option of following family history and dropping dead to prevent it.

Ooo er - wasn't expecting that! Maybe that's an option around here, although I think I'm outnumbered already with both sides of the family history.
Best wishes

""We're not advocating smoking dope, but if we can make analogues of THC, it could play a role in treating Alzheimer's,"

Hmm...I wonder if my transplant team would look kindly on my resuming my old ways from 20-odd years ago, as I can provide the science to back it up? No? Probably not, but hey it was worth a shot.

"Your honor, I swear I was just taking preventative medicine as Alzheimer's runs in my family."

Maybe I should keep that last sentence in reserve, in case I ever do resume smoking that joyful plant. ;-)

Maddy: I know some states have medical marijuana programmes, but I'm not sure they'd go for it as a preventative measure...might be worth a try though ;)

MrN: Can MJ damage the liver? Without sounding like a paranoid conspiracy theorist my belief is that the medical benefits of MJ are not being fully explored or utilised because of the potential impacts on cost to the pharmaceutical industry. After all, how do you patent a plant that regardless of illegality can be grown by anyone-not much room to profit and get back all your R&D costs from that.
I did read about a research study in Toledo University into the effect THC has on gliomas, apparently it was hoped to be a promising treatment, something to do with preventing tumour growth without affecting the surrounding tissue. Interesting stuff!

Perhaps not ever having touched the stuff - to my teenager's amazement - that could explain a few things :) Or maybe it really is just my menopausal hormones after all...
